ZR has been a story I’ve felt so comfortable and at home with during the writing process. The vans, to me, are one of the most recognised yet unsung symbols of Barbadian culture. To my friends that are living abroad, this story will bring you back home. To all those visitors that I crossed paths with during my time working in the tourism industry – if you can’t make it back anytime soon and need a reminder of what you’re missing – read ZR. And for all those who would like to take a vacation in tropical paradise and can’t make it there just yet, well this book costs a hell lot less less than your ticket! And last, but definitely not least, to the people of Barbados, this story would not exist without you. (Warning slightly violent and mature content.)
