ABOUT THE AUTHOR
When I was a little boy I would create my own stories by colouring the heroes of my imagination with crayons and dictate to my mother the events which took place there. She in turn would write everything down, staple it together and I would have my very own little story books. So I can say that from an early age I had a general inclination to the art of storytelling and a constant desire to make the characters in my head real and tangible.
In my early years I was surrounded and influenced by Rastafarian culture and ‘livity’ which, combined with a deep-rooted and longstanding love for movies, have heavily motivated this my first novel I am currently writing – Manimal.
‘Manimal’ has been therapeutic and has helped me cope with the loss of my father who passed away suddenly ten years ago. This book honours his memory and is dedicated to him. He was a writer and Sociologist, a revolutionary, a philosopher and an insightful intellectual with few peers. Bob Marley, Haile Selassie and other iconic figures might be forgotten were it not for those who continue to keep their memory alive. The illustrations are inspired by my sister, the exceptional and renowned Jamaican artist Nakazzi – her art can be viewed at www.nakazzi.com
My mother Laura Lin Hutchinson a published writer and film maker, has been most encouraging and supportive, assisting me with the proof reading and editing process.
Noteworthy writing accomplishments include a Silver medal from NIFCA (National Independence Festival of Creative Arts) and the publication of a soccer article on worldsoccertalk.com
